|Provider Meaningful Use|
Eligible Providers must meet "Meaningful Use" or "MU" of a Certified EHR to qualify for the EHR Incentive programs. The MU is a statutory requirement and is articulated in the rules and regulations of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
The best sources of information on the MU are the websites of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Office of the National Coordinator.
For Help with Meaningful Use
The Hawaii-Pacific HIT Regional Extension Center (HITREC) Team will help providers to select EHRs. The University of Hawaii Telecommunications and Social Informatics (TASI) program is a subcontractor to the HHIE to assist with the Pacific region. UH TASI does not involve itself in the vendor selection since the UH is also supporting the implementation of the RPMS at several sites. The HHIE will assist a Provider with vendor selection options.
For eligible professionals, there are a total of 25 meaningful use objectives. To qualify for an incentive payment, 20 of these 25 objectives must be met.
